Two winners over two days
Over the weekend we saw Merlin The Wizard make it 3 wins from 6 career starts for owner Imad Alsagar. He was stepped up into Class 3 company on his run prior to Saturday at Sandown over 7 furlongs and although finishing 5th he didn’t disgrace himself as it was a competitive handicap, with the 2nd place having since come out and placed 2nd and 1st at Goodwood in the same week. On Saturday he was stepped back up to a mile in a field of 8 runners. He was held up at the rear until making headway around 2 furlongs from home, he was switched right in the final furlong and ran on well to take the lead in the final 100 yards. He won nicely by a length and a half under jockey William Buick. On the following day on Sunday we sent Primeval to Windsor for owners Juddmonte looking to make it two from two. Despite jumping and taking a keen hold she raced in 2nd and soon settled putting her towards the rear of the field 2 furlongs out. She was switched left over a furlong from home and ran on well to just hold on and win the race by a short head under Kieran Shoemark.
