Time Lock and King’s Gambit head to Champions Day

Today we send Time Lock and King’s Gambit to Ascot for the Qipco Champions Day meeting.

Time Lock heads to the Group 1 ‘Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes’ for owners Juddmonte. She comes into the race after a very impressive win at Newmarket on the 27th September in which she won the Group 3 ‘Princess Royal Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Stakes’ by 5 lengths for the 2nd year in a row. She competed in this race last year as well finishing 7th but having missed the break and then pull hard for the first furlong or so she was then unlucky to not get the clearest of runs in the turn for home. Today the race has a field of 14 runners and the going is soft. Time Lock has been drawn 8 with Rossa Ryan taking the ride.

King’s Gambit heads to the Group 1 ‘Qipco Champion Stakes’ for owner Mohammed Jaber. He has had 4 starts this season which has included a Group 3 and two Group 2 races and although he has won once he has put in incredible performances in every race. On his most recent start he finished 3rd behind Los Angeles in the ‘Great Voltigeur’ with only half a length between 1st and 3rd place. Today he steps up into Group 1 company for the first time, the race has a field of 12 runners and he has been drawn 11. Oisin Murphy takes the ride.
