Merlin The Wizard gets third time lucky and our first two year old runners debuts today

 In Beckhampton News

Merlin The Wizard travelled to Kempton yesterday to run in the ‘More Extra Place Races At Unibet Novice Stakes (GBB Race) (Div I)’ for owner Imad Alsagar. He had put in two very promising performances prior to yesterday so we was hoping to see another strong run from him again. He jumped well and made all, he was pushed out by jockey Hollie Doyle in the final furlong and stayed on well to win the race by a neck.

Our first runner today heads to Chelmsford and also is our first two year old runner this season. Koji runs in the ‘Ire-Incentive, It Pays To Buy Irish Restricted Maiden Stakes (GBB/IRE Incentive Race) (Div II)’ for owners Three Of A Kind. Koji is a 2 year old filly by Kodiac and out of an unraced Lonhro mare. Today she makes her racecourse debut in a field of 8 runners, she has been drawn 6 with James Doyle taking the ride. It’s great to have our first two year old runner and we look forward to learning a bit more about her.

Quiet Sea also heads to Chelmsford and runs in the ‘British EBF 40th Anniversary Fillies’ Novice Stakes’ for owners Elite Racing Club. She has had just the one career start prior to today in which she put in a very encouraging performance finishing 2nd in a Maiden at Ascot. We don’t quite know how strong the race was as the other runners in that race haven’t been out yet but going by pedigree’s you would like to think it would have been competetive enough. The race today is back over 1 mile 2 furlongs with a field of 15 runners, she has been drawn 3 with a hood applied. Kieran Shoemark takes the ride.

Discretion is our final runner of the day and runs in the ‘Quinnbet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap’ at Yarmouth. She is a winner of two races so far over a mile and 1 mile 2 furlongs. When making her 4 year old debut over a mile at Kempton at the end of May she put in a very encouraging performance. Today she is back over a mile in a field of 6 runners, she has been drawn 2 with Kevin Stott taking the ride.
