King’s Gambit heads to Newmarket to run in the Group 3 Betway Earl Of Sefton Stakes for owners Wathnan Racing. He signed off last season with a strong performance in the Listed Doonside Cup at Ayr, finishing second. After a winter break, he returns for his five-year-old debut in a field of six, breaking from stall five. He is back to 1 mile 1 furlong and will be partnered by Jamie Spencer.

Beckon lines up at Southwell in the Ladies Day Sunday 16th August Fillies’ Handicap for owners We Are Beckoned. A winner over a mile on just her third career start, she disappointed when finishing sixth over the same trip in January. Dropping back to 7 furlongs today, she faces six rivals from stall seven. Hopefully today she can bounce back to her earlier promise, with Jack Doughty in the saddle.
