Hand Of God returns to the winners enclosure
On Friday, we sent four runners to Newbury Racecourse, including Hand Of God in the ‘Titan Wealth Handicap’ for owner Mohammed Jaber. After enduring a frustrating campaign last season, Hand Of God returned for his five-year-old debut at Newbury on 18th April, where he produced an encouraging performance that suggested he was heading back in the right direction. He returned to the track on Friday and delivered a fantastic performance, looking much more like his old self. Despite racing keenly in a prominent position, he switched right two furlongs from home before being ridden to lead inside the final furlong. From there, he quickened to win impressively by two lengths.
We also saw another strong performance from Besieged, who was making just his second racecourse appearance following an encouraging debut when finishing second at Kempton Park Racecourse at the beginning of April. Settled in midfield during the early stages, he began to make headway approaching the three-furlong marker and stayed on well in the closing stages, battling all the way to the line to finish second, beaten by just half a length.
