Discretion heads back to the Royal meeting

 In Beckhampton News

Today we send out two runners with Discretion travelling to Royal Ascot and Bright travelling to Ripon.

Discretion is the first of our two runners and runs in the ‘Kensington Palace Fillies’ Handicap’ for owners Beckhampton Stables Limited. She is a four year old filly by Dubawi that has so far had 7 career starts, winning three of them. This included her most recent start at Yarmouth over 1 mile on Good To Firm Ground. She went up into Class 2 company last year which was in the Sandringham Stakes at Ascot. She put in a strong performance finishing 14th out of 28 runners. Today will be her first time back in Class 2 company since then and although it’s strong competition she goes into the race well and in good order. The race today has a field of 20 runners and she has been drawn 6. Trevor Whelan takes the ride.

Bright heads to Ripon to run in the ‘Harrogate Town AFC Best Dressed Gentleman Maiden Stakes’ for owner Mohammed Jaber. He is a three year old gelding by Starspangledbanner who has had two career starts so far over 5 furlongs, showing improvement between each start. Today he is stepped up to 6 furlongs for the first time which hopefully the extra furlong will be to his liking. The race today has a field of 6 runners and he has been drawn 4. Dane O’Neill takes the ride.
