Day 1 of Royal Ascot

Today we send out our first Royal Ascot 2025 runner King’s Gambit, owned by Wathnan Racing. He competes in the Wolferton Stakes, a Listed Race. This 4-year-old son of Saxon Warrior has a record with 2 wins and 4 placings in his 10 career starts, highlighted by his victory in the London Gold Cup in 2024 and a commendable second-place finish in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes at last year’s Royal Ascot. While his two starts this season haven’t quite met expectations when stretched to 1 mile 4 furlongs, he’s now back at a more familiar 1 mile 2 furlongs. Facing a competitive field of 16 runners, King’s Gambit will start from draw 12, with James McDonald aboard, hoping to deliver a strong performance.
