Harry Charlton

Harry came back to Beckhampton in 2014 after 5 years in London and was instantly involved in some very successful years. To witness the return of Al Kazeem from stud, winning another Group 1, and the later successes of the great mare Thistle Bird. Quest for More, Decorated  Knight followed soon after with the likes of Time Test, Headman, Quadrilateral and Aspetar achieving top level success.

Between school and university Harry spent time with the vets Rossdales in Newmarket and then over a year with Charlie Appleby in the Godolphin setup, in both Dubai and England.  Harry has lived at Beckhampton all his life and spent a childhood riding and watching horses train.

As the 8th trainer to train at Beckhampton since the 1820s, Harry is driven to continue the success of one of the pre eminent training establishments in the country, with some of the finest gallops at his disposal. All the previous 7 trained classic winners and this is something Harry and his experienced team of staff are keen to match.Harry understands the importance of excellent communication with owners and the increasingly vital role of digital technology and social media in horseracing. He is determined to build on the achievements of his father.

Whilst in a training partnership with his father in 2023 he scored his first Royal Ascot winner with Thesis, and that success has continued with Harry at the helm in 2024.The year couldn’t have started any better landing the Esher Cup, the Gordon Richards, London Gold Cup and the Golden Gates at Royal Ascot all in the first 3 months of the season
