A double at Ffos Las yesterday and two runners head out today

 In Beckhampton News

Yesterday we sent Hydration and Merlin The Wizard to Ffos Las, both in good order and both in with a chance. Hydration was the first of the two winners to go and ran in the ‘Decus Research Ltd Handicap’ for owners Brook Farm Bloodstock. He was a winner on the all weather at Kempton as a two year old and put in a promising performance on his three year old debut but going into yesterday’s race we was a little unsure on how well he would handle the good to firm ground. Despite taking a keen hold early on in the race he was ridden over a furlong from home and took the lead to win the race nicely by half a length. Following on from Hydration, Merlin The Wizard ran in the ‘3As Leisure Handicap’ for owner Imad Alsagar. Prior to yesterday’s race he had two starts behind him as a three year old in which he had won his most recent at Kempton. In the race yesterday he jumped well and settled in the rear, he was nudged along around 2 furlongs from home and quickened nicely going on to win the race by 2 lengths.

Today we send out two runners between Chepstow and Windsor.

Karakoy is our first runner of the day and runs in the ‘Vickers Bet Supports Racing Welfare Restricted Novice Stakes’ at Chepstow for owners Paul Inglett & Partner. He is a three year old gelding by Golden Horn who has had 2 career starts so far and put in very promising performances on both. He made his debut over a mile finishing 3rd and was then stepped up to 1 mile 2 furlongs and placed 2nd. Today he makes his turf debut and continues over 1 mile 2. The race today has a field of 6 runners and he has been drawn 1. Trevor Whelan takes the ride.

Magical Merlin heads to Windsor to run in the ‘ Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap (Windsor Sprint Series Qualifier)’ for owners Paul Inglett & Beckhampton Racing. He is a course and distance winner and won at Lingfield over 6 furlongs on his most recent start. Hopefully today he can look to make it a double. The race today has a field of 8 runners and he has been drawn 6. David Probert takes the ride.
